While the cause of the outage hasn’t been announced, security experts said it may have been triggered by an internal mistake, Reuters reported. They added that sabotage by an insider was also a theoretical possibility, while an outside hack was thought to be less likely.

After long time of outage the services are now operationalFacebook tweeted
The researchers in different technical domains found that – The DNS (Domain Name System) routes that Facebook makes available to the networking world was withdrawn. So the traffic on the internet cant find the IP address of facebook and its services.
The Domain Name System is an integral element of how traffic on the internet is routed. DNS translates an address like “facebook.com” to an IP address like 18.104.22.1680. If Facebook’s DNS records have disappeared, no one could find it and so the web browser shows an error as well as the apps cant load or post new content.
